Workforce Advancement in Verification and Evaluation of Chips (WAVE-CHIP)

Texas A&M University College of Engineering

Our Mission

WAVE-CHIP aims to address the critical shortage of skilled verification engineers in the semiconductor industry by expanding educational opportunities and workforce development programs. The initiative focuses on hardware functional and security verification, a pivotal aspect of the chip development lifecycle, through a comprehensive curriculum developed by industry veterans with over five decades of experience.

We leverage Texas A&M University’s nationally recognized curriculum in hardware verification, created in collaboration with leading semiconductor companies. The curriculum includes courses on hardware functional and security verification, emulation-based verification, and the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in verification.

Training and Certifications

WAVE-CHIP aims to directly support over 7,000 participants, including students from four-year colleges, community colleges, and working professionals seeking upskilling opportunities. While initiated in Texas, which boasts a robust semiconductor ecosystem and major employers like Texas Instruments, Intel, AMD, and Samsung Semiconductor, its coverage is not limited to this region.
